One of my favourite things about the internet is its permanence. After all its a system that was designed to withstand nuclear attack and occasionally I will find myself on a friends old myspace or blog that looks like it has been locked away in the depths of a bunker for a decade. Navigating your way through these archaic old remnants of web technology and design is a little like going up in the attic or blowing the dust off an old photo album and I find it really inspiring. I dont know if having so much of our lives online and visible to everyone will make us more honest about ourselves or turn the entire human species schizophrenic but one or the other is happening as we speak and its all going to be online in the biggest history book ever...

Yeaaaaaaaah. So heres some of whats inspired me in the last couple of weeks!....

Broadwater live for the first time in 10 years!

Yup, they said it wasnt possible but it actually happened. After a miserable Chelsea v Arsenal match things picked up when i got to see my mates in Broadwater do their thing at the Enterprise in Chalk Farm road, as part of Camden Calling, a charity event for the homeless. The room was pretty much filled out with lots of friendly faces and the crowd seemed to really enjoy it. So good after seeing these guys at practice so many times to finally be on stage and look like they were enjoying themselves! Hopefully this will be the start of a much more fruitful and motivated Broadwater :) "Lovers", live by Broadwater at the Enterprise, 3rd October 2010

Im not going to go into massive detail about the following myspace pages i have recently revisited because a) I hate classifying music as im rubbish at it and b) Youre probably a better judge but do please have a listen!

First up is my dear brother under his Dot Rotten pseudonym (he got there WELL before the grime artist btw). Chopped Marvin Gaye and Nina Simone? A nice remix of the Boom Bip classic "Roads must roll" thrown in for good measure. I dont get the last track in the slightest but to each his own, Weirdo!

Next up is the inimitable and always original Sam Seed or Chick Norris, both names under which my old uni pal releases some of his vivid and elcectic musical musings. Im not even going to try and categorise this stuff but Ill have you know this cat is always ahead of the pack, just wish he'd do more! Listen to "Pedros Demise"

Another friend from way back when, the rambunctious and prolific Hector Osbert. This guy has more pseudonyms than Ive had buckets of KFC. Check him out here, here and here

Experimented with old records, sleeves and predictably, smashed glass and tape. One day I would like to make a living from this sort of stuff. For now Ill happily carry out monotonous office tasks and smile at people id much rather kick in the eye ;)

Broadwater t’ing

It is my great honour to be helping Broadwater out with the recording of their perennially in progress demo/E.P. Their music is emotionally charged and covers a wide range of acoustic guitar based rock to heavier stuff and some great comedy numbers by “The Wooden” (king of puns and horrible, horrible jokes), one of my bestest mates, like evah.
Pete (drums, likes Friday, A LOT) and Hon (bass and soon to be Agony Uncle in my upcoming mag Big Deal) provide a solid rhythm section that drives the band along at a sometimes frenetic pace.

These guys love what they do and its great to watch.

Dave (loves reverb and vodka) leads the band and does it well. All this music is from the heart and comes highly recommended from moi, so you know that shits good.

Greetings intrepid internet explorer and welcome to my schlog. Im not going to attempt to describe what it will entail as it has no particular aim for now aside from a way of recording things that appear to hold some significance in this little sphere of perception that is my life.

2010 is just around the corner, what it will hold for us all is uncertain but I can quite confidently predict that I will STILL not have a hoverboard, a fact that both disturbs and irritates me profusely.

As I lost my camera recently with all the work I was hoping to eventually upload to the interwebs I have nothing to contribute for now except some of my dear friends and inspirational figures own blogs which I regularly peruse and hope that you will too.

In no particular order;

Many moons ago when I worked for Tag charity campaigns in the beautiful Finsbury Park area I had the pleasure of working with Mr. Dan Hillier, a true modern gentleman in every sense. His sketchbooks online were one of the things that inspired me to stop looking at and admiring art and to get involved in it myself and I am very grateful for this. Dan currently has a solo show running until the 6th January at First Out coffee shop, 52 St Giles St, Covent Garden and the Diamond Geezer image above is viewable at the exciting looking MuTate (nearest tube station Ladbroke Grove).

UnderwaterTiger is a blog dedicated to the listening habits of my good friend Tom Skyrme and his buddy Teej. According to their blurb its "...an independent Brighton, UK based internet publication devoted to independent music news, reviews, interviews and free music downloads." This doesnt do it justice, its an awesome place to find music you didn't know you should be listening to and keep abreast of stuff you should already know. Go check it out and when you're done check their own musical musings out, thank you please.

The delightful Rebecca Jane Callaby has a relatively new blog with awesome horizontal scrolling presentation here.

She has a great project about peoples obsessive collections; from hats to guns to pez dispensers and there is a great sense of atmosphere and nostalgia in her snaps. A future star in the making for sure :)

Last and certainly not least for this update, BARE NOIZE!
They've only been working as a trio since August but they are not resting on the fact that they've already had support from some of the biggest names in the dubstep scene and had their unique brand of bowel-moving bass music played on 1xtra and countless pirate stations. I fully rate these guys and am proud to see them reppin our ends so spectacularly!
